June 2015 - Attractively packaged free seeds arrived from Cascasdian FarmAttractive is an understatement, hopefully these 2 pictures give you an idea. It also includes a little yard sign. The seed mix is not very full but they actually have an excellent mix of seeds in it - Rose milkweed (Asclepias incarnata, presumably), Common milkweed (Ascelpias tuberosa, presumably), Smooth Blue Aster (Symphyotrichum laeve), Purple Prairie Clover (Dalea purpurea - a nitrogen fixer), Sneezeweed (common names are not so helpful this could be multiple different plants!), Wild Bergamot (Monarda fistulosa), Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta, I assume), Great Blue Lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica).Despite the swank packaging, they used photos of chamomile and zinnias, which notably are not part of this seed mix! Anyway, all the seeds included are native to North America. Since most if not all of these are perennials, and perennial seeds tend to germinate better with a cold period, I may just wait until fall to actually plant them. For now, I’ll shove them in the fridge. -- source link
