lets-follow-all-the-blogs:This is from Episode 42 of the Kirby anime, and honestly one of the most unexpectedly heart-touching moments in anything I’ve seen, as the show generally had a light-hearted, tongue-in cheek style. In this episode, a huge meteor is seen to be about to hit Dreamland and all the characters think that they’re going to die. Early in the episode, King Dedede who was a massive jerk in the show used tax money to build a statue of himself instead of a park which the people had asked for. When the meteor is coming close, Dedede realizes he’s done nothing but make people unhappy and wants to do one good deed before he dies. In his last hour he has the statue destroyed and the park built and takes Kirby to it to try to atone. King Dedede sits down on a swing next to Kirby, smiling and on the verge of tears, and starts singing sadly to himself about how his one kind act will never be known. In the end, the asteroid is deflected and everyone survives, but after that, King Dedede is still a jerk but much more considerate and less selfish. The fact that a 2-dimensional antagonist from a game series with no dialogue got to become a really interesting character with actual development I think is awesome and is why Kirby is by far the best video game to cartoon. -- source link
