Especially considering Spanish among other languages like French and Italian don’t have gender-neutral terms because even objects are assigned gendered articles, and by default in Spanish when referring to a group of people with mixed genders or referring to someone whose gender is not defined, most speakers default to the masculine (an example of this is Latinos refers to not just males who identify as Latino, but females as well)“Hero” has been used in the past to talk about female characters in fiction as well.I just don’t understand the need to shit on people’s parades lol? Like instead of going out of your way to be an asshole you could have simply minded your own business.And these are the facts!Yeah, I was looking up stuff about this trying to find an answer and many native speakers contested the Spanish description being definitive proof because if they were gender neutral, they would default to masculine gendering.I dug up the Japanese and sent it to my girlfriend, @nobiliorpomis, she confirmed there was no gendering whatsoever in the description, which isn’t unusual.She also noted that unless the translators were given specific notes on the gender of the character, which is very unlikely, they wouldn’t have known to try to make it neutral, so they would have just used the default.Also, going by he/him pronouns – SAY IT WITH ME PEOPLE – does not make someone male.
