I am pretty damn grateful to have a group of friends that won’t turn their backs on you, even after you open up about your insecurities. But of course, I wouldn’t have found those friends without going through my fair round of “shitty” friends (should I even call them friends?). I’m pretty sure we’ve all opened up to someone before, only to have that information you shared with them bite you back in the ass. After many “trust” tests with a lot of potential friends throughout school, college, and even now, I’ve learned to establish my standards of who to trust without keeping my doors completely closed off. Those “standards” were built upon the friends that actually showed me compassion, and treated me with respect. They have seen the ugly, the sad, the vulnerable parts of me that they don’t blabber to other bitches about for their own personal gain or entertainment. You are an “average” of the 5 people you hang around most. I’m not 100% innocent and will admit I’ve had moments in my life I shat on friends to other friends. But I eventually knew this is not the person I wanted to be, and I felt more gross every time I did it, so I slowly detached myself from friends who frequently did that shit to minimize those habits. I wouldn’t have known to do those things if it weren’t for the friends who did show me what true respect and loyalty is. So thanks, @noorrasoull for always telling me when I have lipstick on my teeth or face so I don’t like a crazy bitch XD. -- source link
