profeminist:A few days ago I shared this amazing essay by Bougie Black Girl. She does’t have a Tumblr (yet?!?), but here is her website, Facebook, and Twitter. One reader wrote in with a note to the author which I’ve shared below. I’m not BBG, but I’m a big fan of her writing!realamericanmuslim said:“i’m not sure if you and bougie black girl are the same but i feel this needs to be said and if u authored it or passed it along from bougie black girl then maybe you may somehow share if you’d like. I have never in my life imagined all the things you said about a black female and tbh i am thoroughly heartbroken. Growing up i never wanted to be white and even though there is racism in Colombia but to us i was always made to feel proud of being not white even though im not really dark But to the white man i am dark/black and my dad was definitely not considered white by South American standards. I never saw things the way you described them even though i have dealt with racism first hand but i never had the inferiority complex. I always knew in the deep recesses of my heart that those sick people are mistaken about their ideas of course i jumped at any chance to intellectually destroy them and even physically if it came down to it. I know i said alot but I said it to say this. Since all those things you said about a black girl are true and it really has that damaging of an effect on the psyche then by all means be that revolutionary that shows others like them the heights we can reach and lengths we can go and that just because we have color in our skin we shouldnt hate ourselves or feel inferior to someone who is white, because in all reality, the scale of humanity is weighted by deeds and intentions. I hope i didnt bore you. Keep shining”Thanks for writing, and I’ll share this link to BBG so she can read your note!Update: Black Bougie Girl saw the message that I forwarded from realamericanmuslim and responded! -- source link
