architecturehappens: Bethlehem Steel Plant. Bethlehem, PA. 2012 An extremely long train of a building with distinct architectural events along the way: saddlebags, chutes, stair towers, mechanical duct-work, cantilevered saddlebags, etc. The frame-and-panel wall structure marches along relentlessly with an alternating roof monitor that gives the building a low crenelated profile. The infill material varies from safety glass, painted red safety glass, and translucent polycarbonate. Unfolded corners like open books create a grand unintentional public plaza, while the rare small blue man-door with a low metal awning serve to remind one of the human scale. -- source link
