Frontpage of Rheinische Zeitung, October 16, 1842. A short-lived newspaper edited by Karl Marx from October 1842. Launched in January 1842 it was initially pro-government. However its stance soon changed; a series of articles attacked the government, inequality, and the lack of press freedoms. As the paper’s popularity grew, it was closed by Prussian state censorship in March 1843. His work and experiences with this newspaper and the government put Karl Marx firmly on the path to his more famous works. -- source link
