This week, we’re looking at diagrams and table of all shapes and sizes.LJS 434 is a Persian manuscript most likely written in 1507, featuring tables of ikhtiyārāt (elections) used in an astrological technique for determining auspicious times for carrying out various activities. The circular shape is an interesting way of organizing information in a way that communicates that there is no correct column to start with reading. The flow of information is arranged into columns around a circle with no hierarchical structure other than the rows themselves. To see the full digitized version of LJS 434, visit Openn:http://openn.library.upenn.edu/Data/0001/html/ljs434.html -- source link
