Clockwise from top: Matzo Ball SoupI think I posted a bit about this before. It was tasty, but the matzo balls did not stay together at all. It had onions and carrots and celery.Seitan and Broccoli Stir FryMy first foray into the world of seitan, it has an almost alarmingly beef-like taste and texture. It’s good if you miss the taste of meat, probably not as good if that taste makes you sick. Fried PlantainsA great opportunity to get oil burns on my arm! This recipe had me fry the plantains, dip them into water after flattening, then briefly fry again. The dipping into water obviously made the oil go crazy upon second entry. Should have worn goggles. I also made a sauce w/ onion, garlic, oil and lemon juice. It was good.Tofu Scramble & Garlic ToastAnniversary breakfast! Turmeric is the key to the tofu scramble sauce. Definitely better than my last try. I find its better to keep the tofu in fairly large chunks. Otherwise it gets kinda mushy and not too great. Pizza w/ Red Onion + MushroomI used another brand of vegan cheese, not daiya this time, so it was less chewy (and better, I thought). Red onion and mushroom was a good mix. Once again the crust was pretty bland, but I’m not really sure what to do about that. It’s just a mix of whole wheat/all-purpose flour, yeast, sugar, salt and oil. If anyone knows what else to do to make it not just flavorless bread, let me know. -- source link
