atopfourthwall:pigeonbits:I drew a quick little comics essay today about a topic near and dear to my heart: horror for kids!Or, “why some kids like to read books that scare them, and why you should let them.”It’s honestly also just good parenting in general. If your kid comes to you at night and says there’s a boogeyman in the closet or under the bed, you go and help them because it teaches them that you will listen to their fears and concerns, thus if something real is affecting them, scaring them, and hurting them, they will feel they can tell you about it because you will take their fears and concerns seriously.Someday, I will have kids. And if they come to me at night and say “There’s a monster in my closet!” I’m going to grab a baseball bat, hand a blunt weapon appropriate to their size to them, and say, “Not for long it ain’t.”And they’ll believe you because you do that for a living.Seriously, you’ll probably be a pretty cool dad. -- source link
