izzy-the-fish-girl:mrbozack:izzy-the-fish-girl:mrbozack:izzy-the-fish-girl:Tetra and loachesI thought weather loach were cold water fish. I’ve seen them in ponds, but never tropical aquarium! Weather loaches are cool water fish. These guys are kuhli loaches (Pangio spp). Same general shape (and personality), but they are tropical and much smaller! Highly recommend them!! The banded one at the back definitely looks like a Kuhli loach. I’ve never seen “plain” tropical ones though. I’ve kept weather loaches for decades - but never eaten them! I hear they’re a popular dish in China….Common names are a bit of a pain. Pretty much the whole genus of Pangio is called kuhli loaches. My brown ones were labeled as “brown kuhli loaches.” I’ve also heard them called brown eel loaches. I used to just call them Pangio loaches, but that seemed to confuse people :/You should certainly post photos of your weather loaches. I had some a while back, but had to give them away. They were such fun fish.I’ve seen some loaches of the Pangio genus be called some variation of kuhli. Such as P. anguillaris is Silver Kuhli Loach, and the Panda Kuhli Loach, or Java/Cinnamon Kuhli Loach -- source link
