The scythe had its maiden voyage today (even though my birthday was weeks back)! I was – thankfully – less afraid of it than I expected to be. It was actually kind of fun, even sharpening it. My form needs work, but even so I managed to cut a lot of grass, thistle, and stinging nettles. Plus I saw 4 (FOUR!) very large frogs, all of whom escaped untouched thanks to my amphibian-accommodating Iron Age technology. One of them did shriek quite a bit, oddly, but it was only because he didn’t want to be handled (just like the little guy in this video – that’s the common frog, the only kind of frog we have in Scotland). -- source link
