I am against men/women/whoever being more openly sexual in the media. Why?1. It is unfair to people who are squicked/fully repulsed by sex and/or nudity to have to see it more2. It will not change how men view sex workers3. There is already so much sex in the media4. I think we should tone it down because sometimes plot gives way to sex scenes and sexual relationships in a series5. Teenagers will absorb it, see that everyone is being even MORE sexual, and follow suit6. Some girls (and/or guys) may be pressured into wearing more revealing outfits or doing more sexual things because “famous woman you should emulate number 1” did it and otherwise you would not be “proud of your body”7. Fuckboys will see women being more open about sex and expect the women they encounter to do the same8. The whole sexual freedom movement focuses more on the act of doing sexual things and being sexual than respecting those that don’t want to be sexual.9. It equates sex with sexuality, which is harmful.10. We can never be sure whether a famous person is actually for the sexual freedom movement or if they’re just doing it for publicity and public favor.11. America as a culture needs to be less sexualized in general. Everything is sexual and focused on sex. Everything is an innuendo or based on stereotypes or falsified information.12. It’s great for white feminism, which frequently posts white women in their “accept your flaws” and “all women are amazing!” speeches/ads/arguments while conveniently forgetting to tell WOC that they are included in that group.12b. Whenever someone brings up race issues within Western feminism, a white feminist always has to try and equate her issues with a WOC’s issues and blame the whole thing on men.13. If a famous woman poses naked, she’s doing it for feminism and because she wants to, which is empowering. If a model does it, she is being sexualized against her will.14. Children will see all of it.15. SERIOUSLY, nobody ever thinks about how children will be absorbing all of this. Sex is already so constant in their media and now we’ll just be making it more available to them. They will continue to see half-naked women on magazine covers while waiting in line at the supermarket with “250 SEX TIPS PG 35” as the main topic. They will still accidentally see porn of their favorite characters or just accidentally see porn in general. They will see phallus and vagina references. They will see all of this and encouraging people to be more openly sexual will NOT help. -- source link
