It is time now for another installment of my award-winning* series, “Statues With Anxiety”. Today’s sculpture comes from the extinct Rapa Nui culture—known also as Easter Islanders. It is exhibited in the permanent collection of the Pre-Columbian Museum of Art, in Santiago Chile. This one is carved in the Moai Kavakava style, carved from wood. Yes, he(?) is smiling, but I think we can alllll tell he’s faking it.Here is a bonus, from the same culture (but in private hands), said to be female. She has seen things. -- source link
