It’s taken me quite a while, but I am now an affiliate over on Twitch! Being an affiliate comes with a whole bunch of perks that I mostly don’t care about, but one thing I DO care about—and have for quite a while—is that it lets you unlock emote slots. When I first started daydreaming about being able to get my own twitch emotes, it was 2017 (or at least that’s when I started doing something with that daydream) and now it’s 2021 and, thanks to some dedicated effort from a handful of very good friends, the day has finally arrived!Turns out there are potential emotes associated with bits, too, and the first three emote-ready tiers of that come pre-unlocked so instead of my expected three emote slots (one for each tier of subscribers), I’ve got six available right off the bat. Between the seven I made last night and three or four from previous bursts of “yes I want emotes give them to me now” energy I still had to choose what I was most likely to use in the future, but actual placement of what went where got very little consideration. It does feel a little gauche to use your own emote prefix in other people’s chats but it’s not like I’m gonna stream on one account and actually use the website on another, lol.I haven’t decided yet whether I want to go absolutely whole hog and customize bit badges and sub badges and things as well; I do kind of want to do those things, but as I have no intention atm of actively courting subscribers (money is scary) I’m not sure that’s really the best use of my time and energy, heh. -- source link
