grimeyz:weavemama:witwicky:weavemama:THIS IS HOW YOU PARENTWhy is OP still using female pronouns if he says he “wants to be” a boy aka is a boy? Like, A for effort but it’s still misgendering.because this is a 3-4 year old child who doesn’t understand the full concept of gender and its pronouns. they might just like boys clothing styles,, but the family is probably waiting till the child gets older to make that absolute decision….. it’s good that the family is accepting their early decision to wear boys clothes, but at such a young age we don’t know if it’s gonna stop at clothingIt takes until 6-9 years old to know for sure, because that’s when the core personality develops, ie gender pronoun preferences start to develop here. They need to wait a few years. Also, they can’t assume that’s who they are, or it would be harmful later on. Before 10 would be the best time to find out, so they can start on hormone blockers early if that’s the route they want to take. They seem very supportive though, I wouldnt say they’re misgendering. They also probably have never dealt with this, and in her eyes it is still her sister, until the child makes it clear that they are no longer a girl, and in fact a boy, even after clothing changes are made (meaning more changes like pronouns and hormone blockers and name changes must be made at that time). It’s a very complicated process at what comes next. Schools must be informed, official name changes made, doctors notified, psychologists consulted to make sure they can start HB, and family must be made aware. They might lose family, and they might be waiting to make sure before they cut ties with grandma or grandpa (something that may harm the child, and make them feel hated for maybe no reason.) The child can be bullied for this, and as we’re seeing in the US, trans rights are being torn from us. They might be scared, but they seem very, very loving. Some children are raised with the idea that gender is very rooted in clothing and appearance and that might be what they meant. It all takes time, I’ve changed my pronouns literally hundreds of times, and if I had strictly went with one I would be very unhappy right now. Gender is fluid and maybe they want to look like a boy, but still be a girl, or look like a boy and be nothing. We still don’t know, and this isn’t our family. -- source link
