The highlight of the Zee Cine Awards 2012 was Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra’s acts on the Nominations for Best Films 2012. It was an entertaining night. The awards were all predictable, and just like any other award ceremony, the many good small productions were set aside, while the big names such as body guard, dirty picture and rockstar were given the most attention. It literally felt like advertising for movies that came from September - December of 2012. Nowhere were deserving movies such as Delhi Belly, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, No one Killed Jessica, Force, Murder 2 or Aarakshan were even mentioned in the program let a lone nominated. Out of over 120 films produced in 2011, they kept repeating, rockstar, the dirty picture, bodyguard, singham, don, and ra one. Many awards were well deserved, however, in what world would rockstar win best editing is beyond me, the storyline was original but the editing was clearly flawed. Ra-one was clearly a flop and did not deserve to even be nominated as a best film. Lifetime award went to Jeetendra who after 50 years of acting truly deserved it and is a bollywood legend. Zeenat Aman, the original Roma, of Don, made an exclusive appearance. Rockstar won best film popular, and the best film went to the Dirty Picture, Bagwati from ZNMD made an appearance and that was quiet a delight. Mohit Chauwan and AR. Rahman deserved to win all the music awards for Rockstar which they did. Performances: Shahid Kapoor started us off and was clearly a disapointment, as his choreography was lacking. Seeing an amazing dancer like shahid basically run around the auditorium was not satisfying. Katrina Kaif was energetic, however, lacked emotions, Vidya Balan was repetitive, Ranbir Kapoor was a delight. Shahrukh and Priyanka acted well, and their comedy was bearable. Fashion Hit or Miss: It was definitely a low turnout of celebrities that were present in Macao for the awards but the ones that were there, mostly made wise fashion choices. Shahrukh Khan looked elegant in a grey and black suit and on his shoulder was his wife Gauri who looked ravishing in a white Tarun Tahilliani Saree, she left out all accessories which clearly this dress looked a lot better without. Verdict: Hit & Hit! Farhan Akhtar also came with his wife, and while farhan clearly suited up, (barney stinson would be proud), his wife Adhuna, clearly missed all fashion statements, as she supported a black dress with red striped sleeves, which clearly is a bad choice for any event. Verdict: Hit and Miss… You really cannot criticize former miss Asia Pacific, Dia Mirza for anything really, especially her fashion choice for these awards, she came in a Shantanu and Nikhil gown, and clearly looked fabulous! Verdict: Hit! Katrina Kaif went for more of a desi look and wore a Manish Malhotra floor length anarkali dress, which might have been a lot better if it wasn’t for the semi-visible net that covered her stomach area. Verdict: Miss Vidya Balan just like all season supported yet another traditional Sari, and though they look good on her, it’s time for a bit change, it’s an award show, where she was clearly the center of attention, A little glamour might do her well… Verdict: Miss. Priyanka Chopra went with a Robert Cavalli gown and for the most part, you cannot go wrong with this look, unfortunately because of what her other co-stars were wearing, her sequined gown looked a bit over for this event. Verdict: Hit!
