Guess who felt like Fern Arable when she called her Daddy to plead that he leave some winter-fruits on our garden trees? Your little Rosie! Surely our winter-fruits will be lovely in Christmas preserves and holiday mince pies but they are better suited to helping the fledgling birdies and lovable chipmunks make it through the winter.
