Opal Yowrah nutSome of the most beautiful opals to come out of Australia are these brown ironstone nuts threaded with gleaming veins of precious opal. This particular one reminds me of electrical discharge patterns flowing through an active brain. They form as nodules of silicified ironstone in an iron rich sandstone near the contact with a mudstone, along which the mineralising fluids presumably flowed.
