The Hussar’s Busby is, in effect, a shako covered by cloth or fur. These hats reached the height of their popularity in the late 19th century. Primarily worn by cavalrymen (thus, the name), the busby is not to be confused with the bearskin, which is much taller and, typically, has a rounded top. Both of these busbies are from Prussian hussar regiments in the late 19th century. The inscription on both translates to “With God For King and Fatherland.” -- source link
