norwoodsuites:norwoodsuites: norwoodsuites:norwoodsuites:norwoodsuites:please help me pay for paz’s treatmentit stresses me out and breaks my heart to have to ask for help. i’m a latinx trans man currently out of work due to a spinal work-related-injury. i’d made a post asking for help last year to get my boyfriend and i out of abusive homes, but it didn’t quite turn out the way we needed, so we are still stuck in our situations. however, this post is not for us, but for my pet rescue duck, paz.i’ve raised her since she was only a few days old, and her health has suddenly taken a turn. she’s not retaining the correct amount of calcium to produce hard shelled eggs which is running the risk of her becoming egg bound, which is deadly. she also has what the vet believes is a respiratory infection causing her to cough, sneeze, and bring up bloody phlegm. a duck’s lifespan is 8-10 years, and she hasn’t even reached her first birthday yet. i wish i could take care of this entirely on my own but i am unable to walk long distances or stand for long and have been out of work getting tests and physical therapy. i currently need to raise $480 for her visit today and medication, and upon test results this could rise. my mother has taken on the total today but it’s a dangerous situation and i need to pay her back asap.please, if you can help, even a dollar adds up. i just want to be able to help paz. she’s my daughter, my baby, my little best friend.here is my paypal update: we finally got paz’s results back today and strangely her calcium levels are good, but she’s still laying soft eggs. this is a bad sign of a rare condition in ducks where their bodies do not properly absorb and distribute calcium to their eggs, instead pulling it from their bones. there are two possible responses to this, both very expensive: an injection that would stop her from having eggs altogether, or a medication our vet is still doing research on. either of these cost upwards of $1000. we aren’t moving forward until the end of the week though, and we may start uvb lights to help with her vitamin d first, since it’s known to help them absorb calcium.we haven’t yet hit our original goal, which is still our goal right now. please help by reblogging or donating even $1. also, please choose the option that it’s for a family or friend! otherwise, paypal will lock my account again. thank you so much to those who have donated so far, you are amazing. small update: we’ve decided against the injection as of now and are instead monitoring her activity as she remains on the antibiotics and calcium. however, she is still sick and not doing well, and she’s going to need a refill of the calcium and possibly the antibiotics. it’s really upsetting as she’s been on them every day but is coughing and sneezing and lethargic. i’m so worried about her and i just want her to feel better. i dread having to take her back to the vet for another full workup bill. our (hopefully final) goal is $550. please, if you can donate even a dollar or two, it would mean the world. every little thing adds up. $300/550 we still haven’t gotten any more donations. please spare a dollar or two if you can! paz needs her medication! -- source link
