Long Beach’s colorful 35th Annual Lesbian and Gay Pride Parade draws thousands“In stark contrast to a gray Long Beach morning Sunday, Ocean Boulevard became a thundering and prismatic fanfare of LGBTQ pride as residents of all genders and cultures came together to continue 35-year-old tradition.“Gay, straight, black, white — same struggle, same fight,” members of the Party of Socialism and Liberation chanted as others waving rainbow flags trailed behind. To pay homage to the rich history of the city’s prominent LGBTQ community, the annual Lesbian and Gay Pride Parade took the “gayborhood” by storm for the 35th year as thousands gathered for one of the largest pride festivals in the state.“We’re all celebrating peace and love,” said Brian Bernstein, a Los Angeles resident and promoter for 91.1 AMP Radio. “All of us out here want the same thing.”This year’s parade capped off a weekend of pride events and was themed “remember the past, create the future.”See all 50 photos from the event here -- source link
