So we’re leading up to something big here! Bruce is planning something for Tim, which he makes sound very ominous in a very Bruce-like fashion. Spoiler alert, he wants to officially adopt Tim; however, he’s worried Tim will refuse. It’s a legitimate worry, because Tim has previously faked an uncle in an effort to keep Bruce at a distance. Tim has always felt guilty for how close he is with Bruce, while his relationship with Jack, his blood-father, was so strained. It’s made even worse now that Jack has passed; Tim misses his dad, and the father/son relationship he has with Bruce makes him feel like he’s dishonoring his dad’s memory.Tim, who is still only sixteen, I believe, (sorry, it’s been a while, correct me if I’m wrong) is going through a really tough time. As Bruce points out, he’s had a lot of significant deaths lately–Steph, Kon, his dad. He’s now living at Wayne Manor, but in the carriage house, which is essentially his own apartment. He’s very isolated, both physically and emotionally. There’s some nice affirmation for Tim from Bruce in this issue, too; he thinks Tim is incredibly talented and has the potential to surpass Dick. It’s not really surprising, considering Bruce has had an eye on Tim for the next Batman for years. This issue also has some neat observations about the dynamic duo in it’s many forms from Harvey Dent (currently healed and not Two-Face).Detective Comics 818 -- source link
