When you hear people laughing in sitcoms today, it’s the recorded laughter of dead people.Well that escalated quicklyimagine how cool it would be if your legacy was the sound of your laughter. your happiness.good saveHer legacy is a huge part of me.I grew up where she did. I swam in the lake she used to wade around in. I used to pass by the abandoned train station where she caught a train to Los Angeles as a teenager. Jamestown LOVES Lucy and Desi. Every year at the end of summer in August, there is Lucy Comedy FestivalThat old abandoned train station was purchased by the Lucy Desi Museum and turned into the first ever museum of comedy called the National Comedy Center - I worked there during its opening year. It was probably the most fun and inspiring job I’d ever had.Hundreds of thousands of people come to Jamestown every year to see her home town. There are tours of her old neighborhood, her home, and little “I Love Lucy” heart shaped pave stones in the cemetery where she’s buried that lead to her burial plot. And the FANSThere’s a museum dideocated JUST to Lucy, Desi, and their lives togetherI’ve been there COUNTLESS times. It’s incredible.“Lucy” was on the tv in reruns every single morning before I went to school. I have seen every episode at LEAST a dozen times. Her slapstick and crazy antics were insane and so well done. She lifted me up EVERY DAY - I never went to school sad. Jamestown is a financially struggling community that has been dealt hand after hand of misfortune. But her people LOVE Lucy. Seeing and knowing that a unique girl from a tiny town that no one thought would succeed having THIS IMPACTThat gave me hope… of Lucy could do it, then why can’t I?So yes, “I Love Lucy” is a thing. And she was wonderful. And I… I love Lucy. -- source link
