Feedback Friday: 1000 Forms of Fear As for another fun “Feedback Friday” article
Feedback Friday: 1000 Forms of Fear As for another fun “Feedback Friday” article of HINTZ, I decided to review a spectacular production, from an artist that has either wow-ed you a thousand times or is surely about to. Earlier this summer, on the 4th of July, the outstanding composer of some of the greatest hits, including “Hot 100 worthy” songs for Rihanna, Beyonce, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera; as well as the incredible voice behind the tracks of Titanium and She Wolf: Sia, released her new indescribable album: 1000 Forms of Fear. Although her talents for writing music have been constantly highlighted in the past, I think not many of us expected her to save her best tunes for herself! So, I personally discovered this album after watching the music video for Chandelier (which, by the way, was absolutely amazing- I literally got goose bumps after that!). I was desperate for new music, since my iTunes library was getting boring and everything sounded the same after listening to it so much. To my surprise, the video appeared as a “recommended” one for me as I opened YouTube and I could not wait to listen to the entire album after that bewildering song that reminded me of the strength and the passion behind Sia’s music. This album was a true demonstration of who Sia is and everything she is capable of. It reflects her astonishing talent, as well as her energy and somehow; the music gets to you and makes you feel this new power inside you. If you don’t believe me, I dare you to listen to the album with your headphones on and the volume on 50-60%. Seriously. In my personal opinion, I would say that this album has a shade of darkness to it, that can be appreciated melody or even some lyrics from certain songs. Nonetheless, something I find absolutely unique and interesting, is the fact that just like there may be tints of darkness or pain in certain songs, you can also notice a little something that implies excitement of some kind, or an energetic emotion, that I would say, almost kind of juxtaposes to make the sound really original. Additionally, I feel like the feelings portrayed in the album are really varied and so allow the listener to relate to the music in a way. But even if you are not really willing to swim deep, it just sounds perfect- like the overall auditive effect is flawless and overwhelming. Sia’s voice is one of the most beautiful and amazing right now, and it still is very distinctive and original. I think that is a very important factor that fuses with everything else, including instrumentals and lyrics to create the effects mentioned before. If you are looking for variety and for something new, I suggest you to really listen to this album. My favourite songs would have to be Chandelier, (of course) because it is just one of those really unimaginably “strong” songs from many points of view. Also Burn The Pages, which is so beautiful and fun but also hopeful, that I cannot stop listening to it. Yet, Free The Animal is currently my number one track as it is a complete song, that has probably everything I could want in a song right now. It has a cool beat and the way the song is interpreted and voice is mixed with the melody really makes the song genuinely awesome. As for some more relaxed songs that still sound really rad but interesting, I would say that Cellophane and Straight For the Knife add a marvelous touch to the album that is cohesive but that illustrates different moods compared to the songs mentioned before, and can both be appreciated as wonderful singles! Give the album a listen here and do not hesitate send us your questions and comments here. Much Love, Paula x Disclaimer: The picture above is the official cover for the 1000 Forms of Fear album.
