Febhyurary 18: Music“Where did you learn to play?”“From my mother, once we left Coerthas and returned to her people. She taught me to read the sheets, how to sing, play different instruments, to dance. It was like seeing who she really was, a part of her she had hidden away even from herself. She was fantastic–though happily complained she had to re-tailor all her outfits after two children. Mind, they didn’t need much refitting!“I think she was slightly disappointed neither Zaine or I took to it with the same fervor; we enjoyed song and dance, but only as a hobby. When I thought magic still beyond me, though, and first came to Eorzea, I did go to Gridania in the hopes of seeking out a true bard; the pull was too much to ignore.”“That’s how you came to study with Jehantel?”“Well, Dark did first, and she introduced us. He’s taught me some, and I think is also disappointed I don’t dedicate myself more to bows and songs. And it is useful in combat. But…“There’s something to be said for keeping a part of yourself safely away from battlefields. For having something that can give you solace and joy without the pressures of professional improvement. For remembering, when it’s most needed.” -- source link
