i got several asks (ironicallyrad shut-the-phan-up) about how i made my polaroid edit so i thought i’d make a whole post explaining a few of the steps in the process (it’s not detailed at all i’m terrible at tutorials bc i don’t actually know what i’m doing)i was debating on whether i’d post the original pics i used since i think it ~ruins the illusion~ but i’ll post them below the ‘keep reading’ :) IF YOU DON’T WANT THE MAGIC TO BE SPOILED THEN CONTINUE SCROLLING <333if you want to experience the literal worst tutorial ever here you gooo ~~all of this is done on photoshop cc :)so here’s what we’re working with: two v carefully timed screenshots from the halloween baking video that make my job a whole lot easier+ a background with a glare to make it look artsy v nice v niceonce i cropped both of them out using the quick selection tool i just moved them around into a spot that looked to be scaled right to the proportions (i kept them each as a separate layer)i also used a gaussian blur on the backgroundi blacked out their shirts using a linked layer for each of them bc even those nerds wouldn’t be wearing halloween attire in japanIT’S MESSY AND DAN’S HAND LOOKS LIKE A FOOT BUT IT’LL GET BETTER I PROMISEi played with the background coloration first & used a cooling filter bc it looked more romantic ooo~~i also added a transparent lens flare from google in front of their facesi put the brightness all the way down and contrast all the way up twice on the d&p layers to darken the skin & added a filter to the flare to get a color that matched the backgroundfor a final touch i used a drop shadow on dan’s layer and an outer glow to phil’s (in the blending options) and i got the color for the glow/shadow using the eyedropper tool on the sun in the background so fancy omg look at me who do i think i amthen add a polaroid frame cropped to the right dimensions + a font that mimics dan’s shitty handwriting and there we have it ~!!! an edit that killed the phandom overnight thank you for your time xxbonus: here are the final layers (which is completely not helpful at all but i’ll put them here anyway) -- source link
