Farewell, My Lovely (1975). Los Angeles private eye Philip Marlowe is hired by paroled convict Moose
Farewell, My Lovely (1975).Los Angeles private eye Philip Marlowe is hired by paroled convict Moose Malloy to find his girlfriend Velma, former seedy nightclub dancer. It’s so fun to see the nostalgia for the 30s through 50s really take hold in the 1970s. Farewell, My Lovely is an adaptation of a 1944 film, but really encompasses a lot of the post-WWII noir mysteries that were so prevalent across the decade. In that sense, it pales in comparison not just to Chinatown, which was released the previous year, but to a really incredible subgenre of cinema. Still, it’s pretty good, and it’s a bit of a delight to see Robert Mitchum as a leading man again. 6.5/10. -- source link
