Golden Milk This is one of my favorite ways to get in those deeply nourishing adaptogens and all the anti- inflammatory benefits of turmeric. In Ayurveda many herbs are decocted (or heated) in milk. Many plants have constituents that become bio-available when extracted through fats. Ayurveda uses ghee and fats to nourish the ojas of the body, which keep our reproductive system and bodies juicy. I love to enjoy golden milk as a sweet treat before bed or any time when I am experiencing inflammation. One of my favorite herbalists who gave me a version of this recipe, Trinity Ava, often references turmeric as an excellent pain reliever. And I must say, it is way tastier than an ibuprofen. INGREDIENTS. ½ tsp of turmeric powder ¼ - ½ tsp of adaptogenic herb powders (such as shatavari, ashwaganha, or astragulus) 1 cup of milk (I prefer whole milk, but coconut would be nice too) 1 tsp of ghee (or coconut oil) and honey to taste. METHOD. Bring the milk to a simmer with the herbs. Stir to dissolve the powders. Then add in honey, your ghee, and enjoy! *For our ghee recipe go here. -- source link
