It’s more that that though, it’s like- for example, nightwing. DC ha been selling Dick Grayson as a young straight male with a VERY high libido. He makes connections fast and loves intimacy with women. But fans have noticed a certain connection with his best friend, Wally West. The representation doesn’t always give them sexual tension, but it always ALWAYS portrays them as something that could only be portrayed a soul-mates. The kind that you don’t always need to be intimate with, that you’re not sex-hungry for them, but you do desire a certain closeness because god damn no one knows you like this one person an you don’t know anyone like you know this person and god damn you just care so fuckig much about them you would die if they left. I don’t think Dick Grayson is completely gay, but the guy defiantly isn’t 100% straight and it kills me that the writers won’t acknowledge that you don’t have to be 100% gay to fall in love with someone who’s perfect for you jut because you share genitalia.Writers do this all the time. They write “friends” who they really don’t actually mean to have homosexual subtext for (which is why in not using destiel as an example because that’s on purpose) and years later they aren’t 1) willing to recognize it or 2) change their dynamic to suit what they claim to be. I’m not sayin all best friends are secretly gay for each other, I mean just look at Ratchet and Clank, Ron an Harry, Artemis and Zatanna, or who takes the cake is fucking Turk and JT. All best friends most people agree are just best friends and nothing more. It’s like writers would rather the homosexual agenda would rather be the best-friend agenda but dude we can tell the difference when your character wants to walk his best friend down an isle even if you can’t. -- source link
