1863-project-art:OC-tober: Day 10Benvolio Elys - The World Turned Upside DownThat surname is pronounced “Ellis,” and yes, his parents named him after the Shakespeare character. He loves reminding people he’s the sole survivor of the carnage in that play.Benvolio himself is actually more of a writer than an actor, but he’s been known to be funny in front of other people from time to time, although he really shines when he’s doing the scriptwriting. A bit younger than Richard and Edmund, they sort of adopted him when he showed up and joined the theatre troupe, although that meant enduring younger sibling treatment (Edmund in particular loved jumpscaring him and proceeding to chase him down the hall). When the troupe broke up, he made his way to Cambridge, where he ended up taking refuge with an academic named Erasmus Sparrow and his friends Arthur and Rose Nash. Under their protection, he began putting out pamphlets criticizing current events, which was something he’d been doing with his plays beforehand but had to more or less go underground with when things got particularly tense. After all, a man lost his ears for being too critical of things.Rose Nash is actually Amphilis’s cousin, and eventually the Lords of Misrule manage to find their way down to Cambridge and pick the whole lot up to take them along for the ride. Which is great and all, except it means that Benvolio is now going to be jumpscared and chased down the hall again. (It does have the benefit of allowing him and Richard to write together again, though. Believe me, that’s a very good thing.) -- source link
