With natural conservation awareness coming into focus, lumbering is highly restricted. However, historic relics from Alishan’s lumbering history remains. The Tree Spirit Pagoda (樹靈塔) was erected during the Japanese Colonial Era. People gathered here to host worship ceremonies to the Tree Spirit every March and September.
