1916 Immelmann ‘Mystery Killer of the Sky’ - Philip RonforSomebody shared
1916 Immelmann ‘Mystery Killer of the Sky’ - Philip RonforSomebody shared a scan of this double page illustration, I photochopped it to improve on the alignment of both halves and improve on the colors to change the colors to the proper clear doped linen appearance, brownish in the case of the Fokker, yellowish beige in the French pushersThis actually a pulp illustration for a Men Adventure Magazine but I liked it so much and its accurate enough to be worth posting as a historical aviation painting Greg VanWyngarden:…you did an outstanding job with the Phil Ronfor artwork. Given the limitations of the references available to him, Ronfor did a great job, even though Immelmann’s Fokker was obviously based more on an early A type than the Eindecker series. Still wonderful. Thanks for posting it. -- source link
