theoscarsproject:Lawrence of Arabia (1962). A flamboyant and controversial British military figure and his conflicted loyalties during his World War I service in the Middle East.I was suprised by this film. Maybe I shouldn’t have been. After all, it’s regularly on the ‘top’ lists of cinema, but I can’t help but feel that it was ahead of its time. Peter O'Toole is beautiful as Lawrence, Arrogant and intense and emotive, you become pretty invested in him pretty quickly. Similarly with the rest of the cast. It helps that it is so beautifully shot, emphasizing both the awfulness and the perfection of the dessert, with it’s aggression and it’s simplicity all at once. It’s well paced, especially for such a long film, and the cinematography is damn near divine. It’s a great movie. 8/10. -- source link
