EDWARD GOREY 1925-2000 Country of Origin: U.S.A. Training: School of the Art Institute of Chicago (one semester), mostly self-taught Notable Works: The Unstrung Harp (1953), The Doubtful Guest (1957), The Gashlycrumb Tinies (1963), Dracula (1977), Mystery! (1980) Known for his distinct pen and ink style, Gorey produced over 100 books in his lifetime. His subject matter was often dark and comedic, taking place in a sort of twisted Victorian or Edwardian setting. He did not create books specifically for children, though they are often enjoyed by them.
