Bookplates galore! LJS 202, an astrological work written in England in the late 17th or 18th century, has three bookplates on its inside cover. These bookplates were places there by the manuscripts former, and current, owners. The plate shown in the far left detail lets us now that the book was once in the collection of Christopher Tower (b. 1775), Weald Hall, Essex. The center detail is the bookplate of George Winslow Plummer, and the far right detail is of the bookplate for the Schoenberg. These bookplates are not only helpful in determining a provenance, but they are also fun to look at!For manuscript description and more digitized images please see OPenn: http://openn.library.upenn.edu/Data/LJSchoenbergManuscripts/html/ljs202.html -- source link
