Bird no. 335. The more you look..I was sitting on a bench yesterday watching a bird in a tree (as one does), and I noticed that the longer I sat, the more the world poured into me..At first I could only see the bird, but as my focus expanded I started to notice other things, like the shape and distribution of leaves and the bees buzzing between them..It made me wonder, how much of the world do I miss when I’m rushing around, or staring down at my phone? How many opportunities to witness that intricate beauty am I wasting by not looking?.When was the last time you really looked at a tree? Next time you notice one, think about this:.If you had 30 seconds to study it before drawing it from memory, what would you try to hold on to?.If you had to paint it, what colors would you use?.Who is living on it? Sitting in it? Singing in it?.How did it get where it stands? Who or what put it there?.Feel a thin strand of connection to it and everyone it has touched..Repeat as necessary.
