I’m from the dirty southside of Atlanta, Georgia. I believe that time is off the essence, let alone that we are only suppose to go after what we believe in, hence the reason it is wise to chase your dreams. Thank you to GianLuca Buccellatti, who produced this album with me, and who I thank tremendously for lightyears of pivotal life changing advice and friendship, especially in a time where theres so much racial tension and injustice in the world. There’s a lot so I’ll try to make it short and sweet. When I met Luca I looked at his life as maybe, the closest thing to perfect I’d experienced after meeting the most eclectic acts I’d ever met at the time, Leven Kali, and Pablo Dylan, which became some of my first real friends that happened to also be musicians, that I’d ever met. Inspired by these guys, (btw, I ramble, but this is a true story), and how they’d known of me freshly working with acts like Kanye West, Madonna, and OG Maco, they weren’t intimidated, nor impressed like some of the other people I had met along my climb to the mainstream of music. With me being a creative all my life, I also thought very independently, which so did these guys. Basically, putting me in a situation where I needed to learn way more about music. At that time, I returned to Brooklyn after smoking way too much weed in LA, found myself scrambling through Brooklyn, with pocket change, from my Grandma’s plastic, Trinidadian couch. This keeping up with LA had gotten me sent back to the cold of New York city, which I embraced out of being my pisces aquarius, happy sad, self. I met this girl named Natalie, fresh off of a breakup with this artist Roxana I dated, who was simply too much like my mom. Lol, sorta like the Prince record. At this time i stopped dating for a bit and starting focusing on music more, hanging out at the labels. One evening at Atlantic records w my boys Zac n Roger, i met Natalie, a berklee grad, white but soulful singer. We couldnt get enough of each other. Through Nat and Maya, i met Luca and began to rethink my whole idea of what i envisioned rhythm and blues to be, from the soul. Enjoy this everlasting plate of food for thought! #happythanksgiving #lifestyle (at Atlanta, Georgia) -- source link
