nanshe-of-nina:WOMEN’S HISTORY ✷ENHEDUANNA (2285 – 2250 BCE)Enheduanna was a daughter of Sargon of Akkad, the Akkadian emperor who conquered most the Sumerian city states. (The Akkadians were a Semitic people whereas the origins of the Sumerians are unknown.) Her father appointed her as the High Priestess of Nanna (“Sin” in Akkadian), the god of the moon. She is best known for composing hymns, some of the oldest that survive. Those that survive mostly concern Inanna (“Ishtar” in Akkadian), goddess of love and war who was often considered the daughter of Nanna. -- source link
