They attacked canvases in sequence or in tandem and gave each other complete freedom. When they first met, Warhol was amazed at Basquiat because he was even faster at producing work than himself. Warhol had moved away from drawing and painting for years, but Basquiat brought him back to it. The critics received their work with raw racist negativity – Basquiat was seen as Warhol’s latest gimmick – but in my opinion their work together is worth contemplating in isolation from their celebrity and the white art scene. -- source link
