The bands musical style is reminiscent of 90s stoner rock mixed with mainstream elements of recent years and is coupled perfectly with singer Matt Healy’s catchy and slightly irregular melodies. Pop ballads like Robbers, are mixed with fast paced rock songs like Sex and the weird but catchy synth rock M.O.N.E.Y. a balance that seems weird without listening but mixes perfectly when put together in the way it is. Other strong points on the album include the single Chocolate and the upbeat Settle Down that depicts a hidden sexual relationship. Overall the bands music tends to deal with sex, drugs and managing to find yourself through a sea of angst, trouble and possibly disastrous short lived relationships, themes that will resonate with most listeners, no matter what age, making it a very easily accessible album that rewards most listeners with at least one favourable song. Verdict: 4.5/5. Brilliant album, cannot wait to catch them in concert on January 16th and hear it played live. -- source link
