gailsimone:ittygittydiddynator:gailsimone:I Need Some Help, Guys.Okay, here’s what’s up. My dear friend, B.A.Boyd (also known as @idginator), is an actress and a wonderful snarkstress on the internet, and she is in a dire situation. For comics fans, not only was she the real-life inspiration for Vengeance Moth, she freaking IS Vengeance Moth. When we were coming up with the characters for the MOVEMENT comic book, I gave a vague description of the character to artist Freddie Williams III to design, and somehow, he impossibly drew B.A., who was exactly the person I had in mind. He even gave her the exact facial piercing, which I hadn’t even asked for, if I remember correctly, without ever seeing her or knowing she existed. I mean, it was downright weird.Clearly it was fate. Destiny wanted Vengeance Moth to be B.A., and that’s all there was too it.When I finally got to see B.A. in full cosplay as Vengeance Moth, I have NEVER seen a cosplayer so perfectly match an ideal that I had in my head. She simply was, and always will be, the real Vengeance Moth. She’ll even hand you a fruit snack at conventions. She also kicks all kinds of ass as a person; funny, snarky, brilliant, kind, and giving beyond all measure. I straight up adore her and everyone who knows her feels the same. She’s just important, all right? What happened was, she is a wheelchair user, and the car she used for basic necessities of life we all take for granted was totaled by another driver. She wasn’t hurt, but the car was deemed a loss. Insurance will kick in some, but not enough to replace it. And she needs that vehicle for work and health. Her family is uber-Conservative and support has to come from elsewhere. In all the time I have known B.A., I have never heard her ask for anything. But she needs help now. She wants to get a used, not-fancy van that she can put adaptive equipment in, so that it safe for her to drive. For a lot of people, a car is a convenience, for her, it’s her lifeline. ANYTHING helps, even just a few dollars. It is just like her that she wouldn’t even mention this until there was no other choice. Please help if you can, if not, signal boost like hell, okay?We could do a really good thing for a really amazing person here. Please help a wheelchair-using honest-to-gosh superhero, you will be glad you did! Here’s her GOFUNDME page: http://www.gofundme.com/mi0v70And here’s here Tumblr page where you can often read excellent snark and discussion of butts: http://ittygittydiddynator.tumblr.com/Thank you guys so, so much. You have come through for lots of important causes in the past, I hope you can again in this case, even if it’s just for a little bit, it all HELPS!Thank you!I read this when you first posted it, but I was at work, so couldn’t really respond properly!Thank you so much, Ms. Gail. Honestly, it means so much, especially considering all you’ve already done for me in the past. I’m so deeply touched by all of this, and all of the people who have signal boosted and/or donated.Having finally worked things out with my insurance people, and gotten a final price of the van, I now know just how much I’ll be needing to provide, which, thankfully, is a bit less than what I’d originally estimated!I’m so amazed at how much help I’ve gotten so far, and in such a short amount of time. Seriously, thank you all so, so much. You’ve warmed my little Mothy heart. <3!See?I told you she was Vengeance Moth! AND THANK YOU everyone for donating and signal boosting, almost a thousand dollars has been raised since this post went up! More boostage, please! :) -- source link
