How dangerous can sound be? There was a misguided post floating around claiming that a very low note could kill you, and although the so-called “Death Note” is purely a myth, sound can be quite destructive. While little testing has actually been done on sonic lethality, the European Acoustic Facility has horns that are so loud (154 dB) that they will not be operated with a person in the chamber for fear of death! There is some skepticism about this fear; some claim sound levels would need to be still higher or coincide with a natural human resonance to be lethal.
