1.12 Marine OneFirst Homeland episode reaction! XD (I would’ve loved to post an episode reaction of last week’s The Vest because OMG. *u*) And it’s the season finale!I had to remind myself this is not SPN and the characters cannot be resurrected anymore if they die. XD See, I always admired the balls of the SPN writers to kill off its characters because they have a way to bring them back. Case in point, S3 where they built up to Dean’s deal expiring and him going to hell. And at the finale, they actually did - they threw Dean in hell. So payoff received. But Homeland, this is an entirely different show. There was a lot of escalating tension especially with the last episode. They made us believe the finale was going to be an explosive one and in the middle of it all was one of the main characters, Brody. I didn’t think he was going to go through with the suicide bombing because a) that’s a waste of main character - what’s gonna happen in S2 if he dies? and b) I felt like he loves his family more than he loves the cause. And I think that’s where the episode excelled. They portrayed Brody as a family man - the conversations with Dana was especially stellar. And it was fitting that it was her that talked him down. The show gave us reasons why Brody would balk at the plan in such a way that we would actually sympathize with him and not see him as a bad guy. And in the end, it actually gave us the premise for S2: Brody as an inside man in America’s politics, which would cause a lot more damage than blowing up a bunch of people that are, let’s face it, replaceable. Also, I would like to explore Brody’s motivations a bit more. I’m still struggling with the idea that he would give up his wife and two children to avenge the death of someone else’s son. :\ So I’m hoping there’s more to that.Which reminds me, Estes is in on the bombing of the school! :O He’s working with VP Walker! D: Talk about crooked leadership. :\ And the man is about to run for President. Sigh.Another excellent part of the episode: Claire Danes (I would keep saying this until she delivers a non-flawless performance LOL). Seriously. Claire Danes. *u* It was super frustrating to watch everyone turn against her when she’s the only one who got everything right. So, I love Virgil for trusting her like that. He’s like the only one on her side now. Even Saul doubted her. :( Saul also performed brilliantly in this episode. His scenes with Carrie were so powerful. I pray and hope to God he is not some double agent. That would really break Carrie. D:It’s so heartbreaking to see Carrie start doubting herself because of her condition. Electro shock therapy! D: And she remembered something really really important that she will probably forget after the therapy sessions! Argh. AND. She is in love with Brody. Oh Carrie, why is the universe torturing you like this? :(( When she climbed in her sister’s car at the police station and started crying, I cried with her. Then I cried a little more when she asked to be brought to the hospital.Carrie, you are not insane (at least not about Brody). I cannot wait until you prove everyone wrong. So in short, cannot wait for Season 2. XD -- source link
