An old building at 822 Garrison in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The original paint was done sometime before the 1920s, yet residents still feared that this was a Nazi recruitment center during World War II - despite seeing the building and paint for decades before. It shows you how powerful fear can be.During the 1920s and 1930s, the building was occupied by a Jewish-owned business owned by the Pollock family. The swastikas were patched over during WWII with veneer and revealed many decades later - some time in the 1980s. The owner of the building is using it as a reminder of the swastika’s history and trying to educate the locals. Bottom photo from here. -- source link
