mglouise97:redbeardace:Companion slideshow for the new section on WhatIsAsexuality.com: “Am I Ace? A Teenager’s Guide To Asexuality”1/100? Wow thats a big number….. That seems very unlikey… But… But cool.1/100, or 1% is the number Anthony Bogaert came up with when he looked at the results of a British national sex survey. Based on the questions and interpretations and methodology, there’s some discussion over whether or not the 1% figure is accurate. Many people think that figure underrepresents the true number of asexual people out there, because aces are probably less likely to spend time filling out a survey about sex. That figure is now ten years old and is based on a survey that’s something like 20 years old, but I don’t think there’s been a follow up to try to nail down the number more.I believe Kinsey had a higher percentage of people in his “Group X”.Part of the problem with trying to figure out the true number is how few people know what asexuality is. You can’t just ask “Are you asexual?”, because many people who are ace don’t know that they’re ace, so they’ll look at that question and say “I have no idea what that is, so… No.” -- source link
