Is Santorini ready to erupt again? The island of Santoirini was created by a huge volcanic eruption around 3.6k years ago, and evidence is mounting that it may be ready to blow again. Geologists monitoring the island using a variety of techniques believer that the magma chamber has increased in size by around 10-20 million cubic meters. The volcano hasn’t erupted for 60 years, and whilst the recent data reminds everyone that it is still an active volcano, geologists believe that there is no eruption imminent.
