Saint Laurent Spring-Summer 2013The Witching Hour of Saint Laurent Post-Dior, Hedi Slimane&rsquo
Saint Laurent Spring-Summer 2013The Witching Hour of Saint Laurent Post-Dior, Hedi Slimane’s first collection at Saint Laurent was dark and edgy, evoking an air of debonair sensuality. With the models donning wide-brimmed hats, they were a cross between nefariously sexy witches and country lasses from a classic western. Black is the dominant colour of the range and though I would have appreciated brighter colours for the Spring Summer 2013 season, the versatility of Slimane in transforming the plain canvas is a tour de force to be reckoned with. Teasing the audience with see-through blouses and oversized collar bows, the designer has added in medieval costume elements like capes and corsets and revisits Victorian-era femininity with frills and lace. My favourite piece was Look 42; a one-piece black dress with collar ruffles and a prominent ringed waistband separating the bodice from the flowing skirt. Maria Piovesan’s beautiful arms are further elongated by long leather gloves which stretch to the upper arm. Slightly androgynous at times, Saint Laurent’s Spring Summer 2013 collection makes bohemian androgyny a sweet thing to behold. James Lin Images: Saint Laurent -- source link
