archiemcphee:Even though they’re awesome creatures, the name ‘sea slug’ probably doesn’t automatically summon thoughts of cuteness, but the Department of Impossible Cuteness is here to prove that one of the cutest animals under the sea is, in fact, a sea slug. It’s Jorunna parva, a sea slug that looks like a tiny, fluffy bunny rabbit. They’re sea bunnies!Jorunna parva are found in the Indian Ocean from to the Philippines to Japan. Their little bunny ears are actually a pair of chemosensory organs called rhinophores. They’re delicate scent or taste receptors that detect chemicals dissolved in the water, helping the animals stay close to their food source and find mates.A diver swimming off the coast of Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan captured this footage of a fluffy sea bunny going about its adorable business on the ocean floor:[via Bored Panda and RocketNews24] -- source link
