brockleeinc10:How I made my Pirate Map! (aka 1800’s European replica map)1.Coffee stained drawing paper2. Made a light-box using an open-end container with lamp and glass frame. Began tracing in ink pens using THIS picture reference.3. After 4 hours of tracing and detail, I watered down my new gouache paint to a fine watery thinness and began lightly painting (luckily the ink on paper had not bled) for an hour.4. After drying completely, I went over the black lines again, as the paint made the black look too light. 5. Once that was fully dry as well, I decided to go with my gut and dare to sponge a heated/wet teabag over the paper to give it an older look (the coffee did not turn out right this time for reasons unknown). 6. Once dried, I threw bits and odds of pirate-like props for a nice picture moment.(yes those coins are based of the only real sunken pirate gold to be discovered so far…..got it at a museum in Denver once when I was 17 or something of the like) Hope you all enjoyed! This map is really very cool! I got to watch her making it (shhh don’t tell her) and it’s fantastically cool! -- source link
